I worked there my sophomore and junior year ('69 & '70) for "Manager Bob" and three cool waiters . . . Wallace, Joe, and Slim. A great experience with many fond memories, but gained ~20 pounds due mainly to my unlimited access to the sweet tea, 10A's, and their famous yeast rolls.

I worked there from 1978 - 1980 - Wallace and Joe were the two waiters who had been there forever....we had our regulars and that was excellent!!

When I was a busboy there in 1979-80, two of the waiters had already been there 15 and 25 years, respectively.

I remember eating at the Porthole, with the cruiseship theme of checking items off on a menu card. The waiters wore tuxedos I seem to recall and were very attentive.
